PreserVision® AREDS 2 Formula Eye Vitamin and Mineral Supplement
Is your eye health missing a critical piece? Contains the exact formula recommended by the NEI.*†
Overview: The PreserVision® AREDS 2 Formula with Better Absorbing Nutrients‡
PreserVision® AREDS 2 Formula eye vitamin and mineral supplement, from the eye care experts at Bausch + Lomb, contains the exact levels of 6 essential nutrients recommended by the National Eye Institute (NEI) to help reduce the risk of progression in people with moderate to advanced Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).* The 6 nutrients found in these eye health vitamins include lutein, zeaxanthin, vitamin E, vitamin C, zinc, and copper. PreserVision is the ONLY AREDS 2 Formula with OCUSorb™, a unique form of lutein and zeaxanthin that is easier for your body to absorb, helping to increase the amount of nutrients that can circulate to your eyes.*‡
PreserVision® AREDS 2 Formula soft gels are eye supplements that build on the original, clinically proven PreserVision AREDS Formula, with lutein and zeaxanthin replacing beta-carotene based on the NEI’s Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2). Ask your doctor if PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula is right for you.

The study: What the results mean for you
The AREDS2 clinical study conducted by the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health, completed in 2012, included thousands of patients. PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula contains the updated eye support supplement formula now recommended by the National Eye Institute to help reduce the risk of AMD progression in patients with moderate to advanced AMD.
Can a daily multivitamin alone provide the same benefits as an AREDS 2 formulation?
No. The vitamins and minerals tested in the AREDS and AREDS2 studies were provided in much higher doses than what is found in typical multivitamins. Also, it is important to remember that most of the study participants took a daily multivitamin in addition to an AREDS 2 formula supplement.4
Nutrients: Learn more about our formula
Lutein – A vital antioxidant
This “eye vitamin” is a vital antioxidant that naturally occurs in the macula at the center of the retina. It helps to combat the effects of wear and tear, helps filter high-energy blue and UV rays, and supports eye health.
Zeaxanthin – Helps protect the retina
Like lutein, zeaxanthin is an antioxidant pigment that concentrates in the macula and helps to protect the retina from high-energy blue and UV rays.
Vitamin E – Essential for good vision
Like many of the AREDS 2 ingredients for eyesight health, vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that is important for good vision.
Copper – Supports the protective action of antioxidants
Copper helps to support the protective action of the antioxidants in the PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula eye vitamins.
Zinc – Helps absorb Vitamin A
A potent antioxidant, zinc helps the body absorb and use vitamin A—vitamin A is crucial for clear sight. In fact, the scientific term for the substance that the body converts to vitamin A is retinol, a word that derives from “retina.”
Vitamin C – Disarms oxidants that damage cells
Vitamin C disarms the free radicals or oxidants that damage cells. In the eye, vitamin C counters inflammation, which researchers believe may be linked with AMD.
What is AMD?: Important things to know
Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a disease associated with aging that may gradually destroy sharp, central vision. Central vision is needed for seeing objects clearly and for common daily tasks such as reading and driving. AMD affects the macula, the part of the eye that allows you to see fine detail, but causes no pain.
In some cases, AMD advances so slowly that people notice little change in their vision. In others, the disease progresses faster and may lead to a loss of vision in both eyes. AMD is a leading cause of blindness in Americans 60 years of age and older.6
Your part: Helping to reduce the risk of progression
The exact cause of AMD is unknown, and some risk factors can’t be modified, such as age, heredity, and having light skin or eye color. However, you can reduce other risk factors by quitting smoking, losing weight, managing cholesterol levels and hypertension, and reducing your exposure to UV light.
Diet and nutrition are also important factors. Unfortunately, many of us do not consume enough eye healthy foods in our diets.7
Talk to your doctor before making any changes to your diet and ask if PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula eye vitamins and mineral supplements are right for you.
